Malaysians in the Klang Valley are celebrating clearer skies after days of hazy conditions, with social media users sharing photos of improved visibility across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor on Sunday (Oct 25).
Some were particularly surprised when an air quality reading recorded in the Klang Valley came in lower than one in Wellington, New Zealand.

A Threads user shared screenshots from an air quality monitoring platform showing a US Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 23 in the Klang Valley, compared with 49 in Wellington.

Both readings were classified as “Good”, but the Klang Valley recorded the lower pollution reading at the time of the comparison.
The figures sparked surprise among users, with the post highlighting the unexpected comparison between the Malaysian capital region and the New Zealand city.
Beyond the air quality readings, Malaysians also welcomed the return of clearer views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.
One Threads user shared photos taken in Subang Jaya showing buildings in the distance becoming more visible as the haze appeared to ease.
Others posted pictures of Kuala Lumpur’s skyscrapers, while another user shared a panoramic view of the city and expressed hope that the country would remain haze-free.
Some users also looked forward to spending more time outdoors and exploring the city again.
The improvement comes after hazy conditions affected parts of Malaysia, raising concerns about air quality and outdoor activities.
However, clearer skies do not necessarily mean the haze has completely disappeared, as air quality can still vary depending on the location and time of day.
