Guar Chempedak assemblyman Abdul Ghafar Saad and his son were injured after the Proton X50 they were travelling in overturned following a collision with a Perodua Myvi in Ulu Sedaka on Saturday.
The accident occurred at around 8.41am in front of a school, with the SUV being driven by Abdul Ghafar’s 32-year-old son.
The two were reportedly on their way to have breakfast with members of Team GG Bikers as part of the Explore Ride Yan Kedah programme when the collision happened.
Yan deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Aikap Dunding said police received information about the accident at 8.41am.
He said a police patrol unit was immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct an inspection and take initial action.
“All those involved in the accident sustained only minor injuries,” he said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, Team GG Bikers said in a social media post that Abdul Ghafar had been expected to join them for breakfast at Warung Lah Roti Canai before the programme.
However, the assemblyman was represented by his special officer, who joined the group to celebrate the occasion.
