A man has been arrested by police on suspicion of committing physical sexual assault against a 12-year-old boy.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, said the incident happened at around 9pm on September 29 when the victim and three friends were at Ramlee Bukit Bintang.
He explained that the suspect approached the boy on a motorcycle and lured him by offering a free bicycle.
“The victim then followed the suspect to a house nearby and later returned to Ramlee Bukit Bintang with a bicycle. After that, the suspect told the boy he wanted to give him another bicycle, which tempted the victim to follow him again,” he said in a statement today.
However, the boy was instead taken to a nearby forest area where the suspect allegedly committed the act.
Hanyan said the victim is the third of four siblings.
The 46-year-old suspect, who works in a factory, was arrested at 9pm last night to assist in investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
“Investigations revealed the suspect has no prior criminal record. A remand application against him will be submitted today,” he added.
