Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli is expected to appear at Bukit Aman today to assist police investigations into allegations linked to a corporate mafia.
The founder of Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) is understood to be scheduled to arrive at 10am to have his statement recorded by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT D5) under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Rafizi confirmed yesterday that he had received a notice from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) instructing him to give a statement today under Sections 500 and 505 of the Penal Code.
He said the investigation followed a police report lodged on October 22 over a speech he delivered in Selayang on October 20.
According to Rafizi, the police notice stated that the report concerned his remarks about several allegations, including an alleged RM9.5 million payment to an individual named Ramanan Ramakrishnan and issues linked to the corporate mafia.
“The PDRM notice to me stated that the report was related to ‘my speech concerning several allegations, including matters involving a payment of RM9.5 million to an individual named Ramanan Ramakrishnan, as well as issues linked to the corporate mafia’,” he said.
During the speech, Rafizi also touched on the incident involving Datuk Seri Shuhaily Mohd Zain, who was brought to court.
He said he respected the duties of the investigating officers and would return to Kuala Lumpur to provide his statement.
