A family in Sungai Besar, Selangor, endured a terrifying ordeal when their home ceiling suddenly collapsed during heavy rain and strong winds last night, falling on them and their children.
The family was inside a bedroom when the ceiling gave way, leaving them shaken by the unexpected incident.
In a Threads post, user @ekin_nadhira said the storm caused extensive damage to her home, with part of the kitchen also collapsing.
She immediately rushed to get her children out of the bedroom after the ceiling fell, but was shocked to discover that the kitchen had also suffered serious damage.
“The children are still traumatised because the ceiling fell on them. I quickly took them out of the bedroom, but I did not realise the kitchen had also collapsed like that,” she wrote.
She added that her family had never experienced an incident of this severity before, although they were accustomed to strong winds blowing parts of their roof away during bad weather.
Her post drew messages of sympathy from social media users, many of whom offered prayers for the family and hoped they would get through the difficult situation.
One user said the weather had also been worrying in Puncak Alam, which experienced flooding in the afternoon before a storm hit Sungai Besar at night.
“Allahuakbar. We were already dealing with floods in Puncak Alam this afternoon. Tonight, it looks like a storm has hit Sungai Besar. May things be made easier for everyone there,” the user wrote.
Another netizen shared their experience of intense lightning and thunder in Kuala Langat, saying the strikes were so powerful that their house shook.
“The lightning and thunder in Kuala Langat were really strong too. The house was shaking. It felt as though the strikes were just in front of or behind the house,” the user wrote.
Another user, 868_sen, said their electricity supply had been cut off three times amid repeated lightning strikes.
“Our electricity went out three times. The lightning kept striking one after another. I was trembling just trying to open the fuse box,” the user commented.
Many social media users continued to wish the affected family strength as they dealt with the damage, while praying for the safety of everyone in the household.
