Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim has vowed to ensure the state legislative assembly does not automatically dissolve, amid an unresolved issue involving the state’s governing institution.
He said the state government would make every effort to hold the next assembly sitting as planned, allowing the Negeri Sembilan 2027 Budget to be tabled without disruption.
“I will not allow the budget to be dissolved, God willing. We are only waiting for a date to hold the state assembly sitting. We will do our utmost to make it happen and avoid the possibility of the budget being dissolved,” he said.
Ismail was speaking to reporters at the residence of Special Adviser for Indian Community Affairs VS Mogan during a Deepavali celebration in Seremban today.
The state government had previously scheduled the assembly sitting for November 26, with the 2027 Budget presentation set for November 27.
However, the state administration is understood to have yet to receive the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir to convene the sitting.
Earlier media reports indicated that the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly could face automatic dissolution in February 2027 if it fails to convene within the period stipulated under the state constitution.
