12 Arrested as Special Ops Dismantle Three Crime Gangs Targeting House and Vehicles Theft

Date:

Three active crime gangs involved in property crimes, including stealing old vehicles and breaking mosque donation boxes, were dismantled during the Op Pintu/Lejang Khas 2025 operation at the end of last month.

Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the week-long operation, conducted from September 22 to 28, uncovered the activities of three gangs known as Geng Ahtee, Geng Ahsoon Pekong, and Geng Abang Wan.

The state’s Criminal Investigation Department (D4 Division) carried out the operation, inspecting 315 premises, 179 individuals, and 130 vehicles.

“Based on intelligence, we launched three separate raids and successfully dismantled these active criminal groups,” he said.

A total of 12 individuals were arrested, including two male and female students and two men aged 13 to 46 not affiliated with any gang. Police also seized four cars, six motorcycles, five mobile phones, a machete, and tools used for home and vehicle theft.

The gangs reportedly operated in groups, targeting unoccupied homes, mosques, quiet prayer halls, and abandoned vehicles. Initial investigations revealed:

  • Geng Ahtee focused on stealing old cars and motorcycles.
  • Geng Ahsoon Pekong specialized in house break-ins and motorcycle theft.
  • Geng Abang Wan, including a married couple and students aged 13 and 15, targeted mosque donation boxes and motorcycles.

Dzulkhairi added that with these arrests, police solved 25 cases of house and vehicle theft reported in the state from January to early September.

Preliminary urine tests showed nine suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Sections 379A, 457, and 411 of the Penal Code. Three Geng Ahtee members were charged in court on September 30, while four from Geng Abang Wan and three from Geng Ahsoon Pekong were remanded until October 6.
