A secondary school teacher in Seberang Perai has been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation of a rape case involving a 14-year-old female student.
The remand order against the 32-year-old suspect was issued by Magistrate Chia Huey Ting, effective today until October 6, to allow police to conduct investigations under Section 376(2) of the Penal Code.
Earlier, the suspect, dressed in a yellow long-sleeved T-shirt and sports pants, arrived at the court at 8:14 am escorted by police officers.
It is understood that the suspect surrendered himself at the Southwest District Police Headquarters after the victim, who is also a student at the same school, lodged a report about the incident.
The victim alleged that she was raped by the suspect at the open car park of a shopping complex in Persiaran Bayan Indah here last November.
