Police Arrest Eight Linked To Kidnapping of Three Men

Date:

Eight individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of three men in Kelantan on September 26.

Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, said the suspects, aged between 20 and 46, were detained in multiple raids conducted between 2am and 11.30am yesterday across six different locations in Kota Bharu, Bachok, Pasir Puteh, and Tumpat.

According to police, the incident occurred at 11am on September 26, when three men in their 20s were abducted and held at an unnumbered house in Cherang Ruku, Pasir Puteh. The kidnappers allegedly demanded RM150,000 in ransom from the victims’ employer.

“The victims’ employer eventually paid RM29,000 before the three hostages were released after being held for three days. Following investigations, police arrested eight local suspects yesterday,” Mohd Yusoff said in a statement.

During the raids, police seized a revolver, an imitation pistol, and three vehicles—a Proton Perdana, an Audi Q7, and a Nissan Terrano. Authorities also confiscated 10 mobile phones belonging to the suspects, five phones belonging to the victims, a metal chain with five padlocks and keys, face masks, clothes worn by the suspects, and cable ties.

All suspects tested negative for drugs and have been remanded for four days until October 5.

The case is being investigated under Section 385 of the Penal Code for extortion, Section 365 for kidnapping with wrongful intent, and Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
