Woman Finds Forgotten Scratch-Off in Cupboard And Wins MYR 460,000 Jackpot

Date:

A woman in Richmond, Virginia, got an unexpected windfall while cleaning her home, discovering a forgotten box of scratch-off lottery tickets in her cupboard — and scratching her way to a $100,000 jackpot, equivalent to around MYR 460,000.

According to People, the Virginia Lottery identified the winner as Alfreda Hawkins. While tidying up, Hawkins found a box of scratch-offs and decided to try her luck. To her amazement, she revealed the top prize from the “Extreme Cash” series. “I almost passed out! It was absolutely incredible!” Hawkins said.

Lottery officials confirmed that Hawkins had purchased the ticket at a “Shop & Go” store in Richmond. While the exact purchase date is unknown, the winning ticket was the last top-prize ticket in the Extreme Cash series.

The Extreme Cash series offers odds of winning the jackpot at 1 in 1,101,600. Hawkins claimed her prize on September 12, but she has yet to decide how to spend her unexpected fortune.
