Tomorrowland Up in Smoke: Main Stage Burnt Days Before the Beat Drops

Date:

Just two days before Tomorrowland was set to kick off, a massive fire broke out and destroyed its iconic main stage in Boom, Belgium. Organizers confirmed the heartbreaking news on Wednesday evening, describing the stage as “severely damaged.” Thankfully, no injuries were reported, though the cause of the blaze remains unknown.

The fire erupted around 6pm local time, with dramatic videos showing thick grey smoke billowing over the site. One worker called the moment “apocalyptic,” saying, “We were just putting the finishing touches on it… Four weeks of work, gone in half an hour.”

With 400,000 fans expected and a star-studded lineup featuring David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Lost Frequencies and Charlotte De Witte, the festival was gearing up for one of its biggest editions yet. Despite the setback, organizers have reassured fans that the show will go on. Campsites will still open Thursday, and efforts are underway to find solutions for the festival weekend—though it’ll now happen without the legendary main stage.
