A 34-year-old man was discovered dead inside a locked vehicle with the engine still running in Taman Ara Mutiara, Penang, on Wednesday night.
According to the Penang Fire and Rescue Department, they received a call at 8.50pm from the police requesting assistance to unlock a Mazda CX-5 with an unconscious man inside. A team of seven firefighters from the Tasek Gelugor fire station arrived at the scene at 9.03pm.
Using specialised equipment, the team managed to unlock the vehicle. Inside, they found the man unresponsive in the driver’s seat. Paramedics later confirmed that the individual had died.
“The operation ended at 9.35pm,” said Penang Fire and Rescue assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis in a statement.
The case has been referred to the police for further investigation.
