One Dead, 18 Injured After Express Bus Crashes Into Signpost On North-South Expressway

One man was killed while 18 others survived after an express bus they were traveling in skidded and crashed into a signpost at Kilometer 293.4 of the North-South Expressway heading north early Saturday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said the department received a distress call at 2:57 a.m.

A team from the Bangi Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by personnel from Seri Kembangan and KLIA stations, was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“There were 19 people on board, including the bus driver,” he said in a statement.

A 59-year-old local man was found trapped in the wreckage and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health (KKM) personnel. The remaining 18 victims sustained various injuries and received initial treatment at the scene.
