A housewife was fined RM10,000 by the Magistrate’s Court here today after pleading guilty to extortion for threatening to spread a man’s nude photos in June.
The accused, Nur Husna Noor Baharuddin, 33, was also ordered by Magistrate Nadratun Naim Mohd Saidi to serve 10 months in jail if she fails to pay the fine.
Nur Husna was charged with extorting a 28-year-old man by instilling fear and coercing him to hand over RM3,750 in cash. The offence took place at 3:30 a.m. on June 14 at a house along Lintang Kampung Rawa 1.
She was charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping, or any combination of these punishments upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Danial Amir Saad urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence, emphasizing the emotional and financial impact on the victim.
Meanwhile, YBGK lawyer Farah Hamizah Hasan Gani, representing the accused, appealed for a lighter fine, noting that Nur Husna is a mother of six children, including a six-month-old baby and a two-year-old child with autism.
According to case facts, the victim met the accused through Facebook at around 1:47 a.m. on June 12. She allegedly offered to send him explicit photos and videos of herself. The man received the content via WhatsApp, but two days later, Nur Husna threatened to release his nude photos—captured from a video call—on social media unless he paid RM3,750.
Fearing exposure, the victim made 10 bank transfers to the woman’s account. However, she continued to demand more money, prompting the man to lodge a police report.
