A female security guard and her boyfriend pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here on Tuesday to charges of sexually abusing a nine-year-old female student at a school in Rembau last week.
The accused, 25-year-old Muahmad Mohd Mohtar and 22-year-old Nor Aleeya Suhadah Mohamad, entered their pleas separately before Judge N Kanageswari.
According to the charges, they allegedly committed sexual misconduct against the victim, a Year Three student, inside the school’s female restroom between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on October 7.
They were charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
Nor Aleeya was represented by lawyer Norfazrin Jamal, while Muahmad appeared without legal counsel.
In her bail application, Norfazrin requested that her client be granted RM10,000 bail, citing her monthly income of RM1,600 and her responsibility for supporting her parents and four school-going siblings. She also noted that one sibling is studying at a community college and that the parents suffer from high blood pressure. Norfazrin assured the court that her client intended to clear her name and would attend all court proceedings without fail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni proposed bail of RM30,000 with one surety and additional conditions, including regular reporting to the court, refraining from contacting witnesses, and surrendering her passport.
The court granted bail of RM30,000 with one surety and imposed the suggested conditions.
The case is scheduled for mention again on November 17 for the submission of documents and legal representation arrangements.
