Date:

Police have seized two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the tragic stabbing of a Form Four female student at a school in Bandar Utama on Tuesday.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat, said the incident occurred around 9:10 a.m. in the girls’ restroom before a teacher noticed screams and alerted authorities.

According to Shamsudin, police rushed to the scene and detained a 14-year-old Form Two male student suspected of involvement in the attack.

“We have seized two sharp weapons believed to be used in this incident,” he told reporters outside the school, adding that the exact type of weapons will require further verification.

Shamsudin confirmed the victim sustained injuries to several parts of her body, and her body was taken to the University of Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for a post-mortem examination.

He added that the motive for the attack is still under investigation.

“The suspect has been detained and will be remanded tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Petaling Jaya Court for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said.

No other students were reported injured or involved in the case.

A Sinar Harian survey at the school found that parents and guardians gathered outside the school gates, seeking updates on the tragic incident.
