Kelantan Police Take Action After Israeli Flag Display at Gaza Support Event

Date:

Police have submitted the investigation papers concerning the controversial display of Israeli flags during the “500 Kelantan Voyages for Gaza Solidarity” event, held at Lembah Sireh last Friday, to the state prosecutor for further action.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the event organizers were also summoned yesterday for additional questioning and are expected to be charged in court soon.

“This case is being investigated under three legal provisions: Section 3 of the National Emblem (Control of Display) Act 1949, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he told Bernama today.

The incident occurred when a boat displaying several Israeli flags reenacted the detention of a boat carrying Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteers during their voyage to Gaza.

The event, organized by Pertubuhan Anak Muda Bangkit Malaysia, saw nearly 10,000 participants boarding boats and parading from Kampung Pulau Pisang to Lembah Sireh, covering a distance of eight kilometers, as a show of solidarity with the people of Palestine.
