Brunei Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha Expect First Child

Date:

Prince of Brunei, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen, has announced that he and his wife, Her Royal Highness Princess Anisha Rosnah Adam, are expecting their first child.

The royal couple shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting a black-and-white photo of them gazing at each other lovingly while holding hands on a balcony. In the image, Princess Anisha looked radiant in a long white buttoned gown, gently resting her hand on her growing baby bump.

The expected date of delivery has not been revealed, but the couple will celebrate their second wedding anniversary this coming January.

Prince Mateen, 34, and Princess Anisha, 30, held a grand 10-day royal wedding in January 2024, culminating at Istana Nurul Iman, the official residence of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Bandar Seri Begawan. The historic celebration was attended by national leaders, Malay rulers, and regional heads of government.

Prince Mateen is the tenth child and fourth prince of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his former wife, Hajah Mariam Abdul Aziz. He received his early education in Brunei before pursuing International Politics at King’s College London and later completing his master’s at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Known for his active and disciplined lifestyle, Prince Mateen graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2011 and is also recognized as a talented polo player.

Princess Anisha, born in London, is an entrepreneur running a luxury silk clothing business and a high-end travel agency. The couple reportedly met in 2018 but kept their relationship private until their royal wedding.

If the upcoming child is a boy, he will become the sixth heir to the Brunei Sultanate throne.
