A minor boy, nicknamed Xiao Liang, was reportedly abused by his father at home — shot in the thigh with a BB gun and slapped three times — prompting him to seek help in fear. Following the incident, the court has extended his protective placement for another three months, though the decision is still open to appeal.
According to the judgment, the incident occurred on the night of December 10, 2024, while Xiao Liang was washing dishes. He suddenly heard the sound of a BB gun being fired and his pet crying in pain. Moments later, his father entered the kitchen and shot him in the right thigh before slapping him three times. Terrified, Xiao Liang ran to seek help. A medical report confirmed he suffered pain in the head and face, as well as abrasions on his right leg.
Records show that Xiao Liang had already been listed as a child protection case in 2023 due to corporal punishment at home. In January of the same year, another domestic violence incident occurred. During a home visit, the father reportedly refused social worker supervision and parenting counseling, even threatening to attack the social worker. He blamed his son, saying, “This is all your fault — you shouldn’t have told the social worker,” verbally berating the boy for over an hour. The Social Affairs Bureau subsequently filed for an emergency protection order.
After reviewing the case reports and medical records, the court concluded that Xiao Liang’s home environment remained unsafe and unable to provide proper care. In accordance with Article 57 of the Child and Youth Welfare and Rights Protection Act, the court ruled to extend the boy’s placement for three more months, emphasizing that the decision was made in the best interest of the child.
