A young girl sustained head injuries after allegedly being assaulted by a male student in an incident at a primary school in the district earlier this morning.
The incident, believed to have occurred around 11 a.m., went viral on social media after photos of the injured student were shared online, accompanied by claims that she was hit with a belt.
Images circulating online showed the victim in her school uniform with visible bloodstains on her clothes. Another photo showed her sitting inside a vehicle, holding her head, believed to be on her way to the hospital for further treatment.
Sipitang District Police Chief, Superintendent Awang Anak Suanda, confirmed the incident when contacted and said that investigations are currently underway.
