School Surprise Check Reveals Scissors, Pokémon Cards, and Teacher WhatsApp Stickers On Phones

Date:

Following the recent “male student stabs senior female student” incident, a local school reportedly conducted a surprise inspection of students, during which it was discovered that many teachers’ images had been turned into WhatsApp stickers on the phones of sixth-grade students.

According to a report by mStar, the school carried out the inspection today, checking students’ bags to ensure that no dangerous items or prohibited objects were brought onto campus.

One teacher shared on social media platform Threads that during the inspection, many students were found carrying scissors, toys, and Pokémon cards. In addition, some students’ phones contained inappropriate content, which reportedly caused several students to cry. The teacher did not disclose the exact location of the incident.

During the search, a number of scissors and Pokémon cards were confiscated. The teacher revealed that in a sixth-grade class, some students’ phones contained photos of teachers made into WhatsApp stickers for jokes and pranks.

“The phones also contained images of religious teachers (ustaz) and KAFA instructors lying in the prayer room, and some photos of male students as well. We haven’t even gone through the chat records yet,” the teacher added.

She expressed concern over parental supervision: “These are only sixth graders! If parents don’t monitor their children’s phones, the consequences are obvious.”

Some parents reportedly admitted they had never checked or confiscated their children’s phones. One mother reportedly said she couldn’t take control of her child because if the father were to discipline the child, he might resort to corporal punishment.

The teacher suggested that while the children are responsible to some extent, parents must also play a role in supervising and guiding them.

Meanwhile, some netizens questioned the ban on bringing scissors to school and argued that searching students’ phones violated privacy. Others were puzzled about why Pokémon cards were confiscated.
