Angry Customer Shouts And Breaks Glass Over Slow Rice Ball Service

Date:

A man caused a scene at a popular rice ball stall on Park Road in Tainan after becoming angry over slow service. The man, who lives nearby and frequently visits the stall, reportedly grew frustrated when the owner took time to prepare his order, shouting at staff and even striking the stall, cracking the glass. Despite repeated attempts by the owner and other customers to calm him, he refused to stop.

The incident occurred on the morning of October 15 around 7 a.m., with several customers already waiting in line. The man demanded two rice balls and a drink, but when he did not receive them immediately, he erupted in anger, using foul language and physically hitting the stall. The owner explained that the food was being prepared, but the man ignored the explanation and continued yelling.

The stall, known for generous portions and reasonable prices, has become a favorite of the man, but his impatience has caused repeated disturbances. The owner expressed frustration, saying the man often comes by multiple times a week, complaining whenever his order isn’t served instantly.

Police have reviewed surveillance footage and summoned the man for questioning. According to the head of the Shijian Police Station, Ou Cunfeng, the man may face penalties under the Social Order Maintenance Act, including up to three days’ detention or a fine of up to NT$12,000 for disrupting a business.

The rice ball stall owner reported the incident to authorities to prevent further disruptions and protect customers, saying the man’s behavior has been a recurring problem.
