Nude Photos & Secret Sexual Meetings: Wife Wins RM112,000 in Court

Date:

A Taiwanese woman, identified as Xiao Hua (alias), discovered that her husband, Ah Ming (alias), had been having an extramarital affair with a female subordinate at his logistics company. The two exchanged intimate and sexually suggestive messages via email and WeChat and engaged in multiple sexual encounters. Outraged, Xiao Hua filed a civil lawsuit against the woman, seeking compensation of NT$800,000 (approximately MYR 112,000).

According to court documents, Xiao Hua and Ah Ming married in 2018 and have a son, with the family initially enjoying a happy life. However, Xiao Hua later discovered that Ah Ming had developed a relationship with a female colleague at work. The two not only exchanged flirtatious and sexually explicit messages but also sent nude photos and videos. Shockingly, they allegedly had sexual encounters in the parking lots and restrooms of both the old and new company buildings over several months.

After confronting Ah Ming, he admitted to the affair and wrote a handwritten apology. The incident caused Xiao Hua significant emotional distress, leading to anxiety, depression, and insomnia, for which she has received ongoing psychiatric treatment. Believing that the subordinate had interfered with her marriage and seriously damaged her family, Xiao Hua filed a civil suit seeking NT$800,000 (≈ MYR 112,000) in damages.

During the trial at the Taipei District Court, the female subordinate claimed that she became Ah Ming’s subordinate in late 2023 due to a work transfer and was pursued by him. She alleged that Ah Ming used affectionate language and pressured her to send photos, videos, and intimate messages without consent. She denied any sexual activity, stating that all interactions were out of fear for her job, potential harassment, or loss of bonuses. She also filed a sexual harassment complaint against Ah Ming with the company.

However, the court reviewed email and WeChat records showing messages such as Ah Ming writing: “I miss you so much and want to do X with you” and “Can’t wait for Monday to see you, hug you, and do that!” The subordinate replied: “I suddenly feel I really love you, I have to think of you before sleeping” and “I love you too.” Additional messages included explicit sexual content.

The judge ruled that the subordinate, knowing Ah Ming was married, still engaged in an intimate relationship, exchanged private images, professed love, and had repeated sexual encounters. The court concluded her actions far exceeded normal colleague interactions and seriously damaged Xiao Hua’s marital rights.

Considering Xiao Hua’s current position as a retail customer service employee earning NT$10,000–20,000 per month including bonuses, the court ordered the subordinate to compensate her NT$300,000 (approximately MYR 42,000). The case may still be appealed.
