Kidney Stone “Blasted Out” After Three Roller Coaster Rides, Says Chinese Tourist

Date:

A male tourist from China claimed that his kidney stone “came out on its own” after he rode three roller coasters while on vacation in Japan, according to WorldJournal.com.

The tourist, identified by his surname Wang, shared his unusual experience on Weibo, saying all his discomfort symptoms disappeared immediately after the incident. His story quickly went viral, sparking heated discussions among netizens.

According to the report, Wang, who had a known history of kidney stones, said he had been urinating frequently during his trip in Japan, leading him to suspect that one of his stones had moved into the ureter.

However, he did not seek medical attention at the time as most clinics were closed on October 13 due to a public holiday. Wang decided to proceed with his plan to visit a theme park instead.

After riding three roller coasters, Wang went to the restroom and, to his surprise, passed a small black stone. “It looked like a tiny grain of black rice. Once it came out, all the pain and discomfort disappeared instantly,” he said.

Wang explained that previous medical checkups had revealed several small kidney stones. Since they were less than five millimeters in size, doctors had advised him to drink plenty of water and skip rope to help the stones pass naturally.

The bizarre story caught widespread attention on Weibo, with some users joking that “doctors might start prescribing three roller coaster rides a day” after this.

Meanwhile, Dr. Li Tian, head of the Urology Department at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, said the incident was purely coincidental and not a medical treatment method.

He explained that the vibrations and rapid changes in body position on roller coasters could help dislodge small stones that are already close to exiting. However, he cautioned against attempting such actions, as it could cause injury or lead to stones getting stuck in the ureter.
