A cement mixer truck driver is believed to have suffered a heart attack before dying while parking his vehicle near the Al-Amin Tuition Centre here earlier this afternoon.
The incident, which occurred around 1.10 p.m., led to a minor collision involving four vehicles. The 56-year-old driver was rushed to Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM), where he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
Kota Bharu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud, said the victim was in his truck and attempting to park when he suddenly experienced a heart attack.
“As a result, the truck moved forward slowly and hit three other vehicles parked in front,” he said in a statement.
The driver was taken to HPUSM for further treatment but was pronounced dead at 2.10 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the other drivers involved.
Police are continuing their investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and have classified the case as a sudden death report (SDR).
Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Kota Bharu District Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division or Traffic Investigation Officer, Inspector Muhammad Naqiyuddin Sharifuddin, at 09-7752315.
The police also reminded the public to drive carefully, obey traffic rules, and remain alert on the road to prevent similar incidents.
