Two Men Found Dead While Swimming In Langkawi Beach

Date:

A beach outing turned tragic when two tourists drowned while enjoying seaside activities at Pantai Chenang yesterday evening.

The incident occurred at about 5.50 p.m., claiming the lives of R. Nurenthiran, 38, and M. Suresh, 46, both from Selangor.

Langkawi Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Samsulmuddin Sulaiman, said the police received an emergency call regarding the incident at 6.05 p.m.

“Both victims were rescued by members of the public using a jet ski and brought to shore before being taken to Sultanah Maliha Hospital (HSM) for further treatment,” he said in a statement today.

“However, medical officers at the hospital’s emergency department confirmed that both men had already passed away,” he added.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were on vacation with their families and were believed to have been swimming at the public beach area before the tragedy occurred.

The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).
