Chris Kirkpatrick is giving fans a peek inside the hilarious group chat he shares with his fellow *NSYNC members. The 54-year-old singer revealed to PEOPLE that he, Justin Timberlake, 44, Joey Fatone, 48, JC Chasez, 49, and Lance Bass, 46, often trade memes and jokes while reminiscing about their boy band days.
“We all talk about it, especially when we get together or I see the guys,” Kirkpatrick said. “We send stupid memes back and forth, especially when people make fun of us. That’s usually the first thing that pops up in the chat: ‘Have you seen this one yet?’”
He explained the chat isn’t just a single thread — there are multiple conversations: a main group chat plus separate ones with JC, Lance, and Joey. Some memes poke fun at the band, while others are just random jokes that remind them of each other. “It’s fun that we still have that banter — it’s like no time has passed,” Kirkpatrick added.
Kirkpatrick, married to Karly Skladany with an 8-year-old son, Nash Dylan, spoke to PEOPLE ahead of his Pop 2000 tour, which brought together 2000s-era stars including Brad Fischetti of LFO, O-Town, BBMak, and Ryan Cabrera at LadyGang’s LadyWorld retreat in Florida. He recalled fond memories performing with these acts back in the day, even sharing stories of living near O-Town members.
“I host the show, banter with the crowd, kind of like the old MTV TRL days, but I also perform,” Kirkpatrick said. “All these bands come on, do their songs, and you move from one vibe to another — it’s a real throwback to the late ’90s, early 2000s.”
Kirkpatrick also laughed off a jab from Chasez, who had joked that Kirkpatrick would need “knee cream” and “aspirin” before performing. “Well, the difference is I’m still out there doing it, and he’s not,” Kirkpatrick quipped. “My body probably hurts more than his, but I’ve got a regimen now — I know how to take care of myself for the singing, dancing, all of it.”
Despite the teasing, Kirkpatrick admitted he would love for Chasez to join him on stage. “He’s one of my favorite singers of all time. I wish I could get him out with me — it would be amazing.”
