A man from Kaifeng, Henan, China, recently faced a shocking revelation in his marriage when he discovered that his wife was romantically involved with eight other men, including one with whom she allegedly checked into a hotel. Despite being cheated on, the husband ultimately chose to publicly apologize to his wife, admitting he should not have gone through her phone and expressing willingness to forgive her if she returns home.
According to Chinese media reports, the man, surnamed Zhang, said that his busy work schedule kept him unaware of his wife’s affairs until his father informed him. When he confronted his wife at home, he lost control, physically assaulted her, and forcibly took her phone to check her messages. He found explicit conversations and evidence of hotel visits, confirming her infidelity.
Zhang explained that while he might have tolerated a single affair, his wife’s simultaneous involvement with eight men left him humiliated and dishonored. The couple has three daughters, all no longer very young, which made the betrayal even more painful.
After admitting to the extramarital relationships, Zhang’s wife suggested that if their relationship could not be salvaged, they might as well divorce. Following Zhang’s violent outburst, she returned to her family home and has not come back. Her mother also stated that she would not allow her daughter to return to a husband who had abused her.
When Zhang later went to visit his wife at her family home, he found she was not there and feared she might have left for good. He then expressed a conciliatory stance, publicly acknowledging his mistakes, admitting he should not have checked her phone, and taking responsibility for being too focused on work and neglecting her feelings. He even made a public appeal through the media, saying: “If you come back, I will forgive you. Please come home soon!”
The story has drawn significant attention online, with many netizens focusing on the couple’s children and urging Zhang to confirm paternity, questioning whether the children are truly his.
