Police have arrested three men believed to be involved in assaulting a 12-year-old boy accused of stealing a mobile phone charger.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the first suspect was detained in Kelantan yesterday, while the other two were arrested in the capital today.
The arrests came after a viral social media post showed the boy being beaten by several men at a food court in a People’s Housing Project (PPR) area in Setapak.
Initial investigations revealed the assault happened after the suspects accused the boy of stealing a charger belonging to one of their friends.
“The victim suffered minor injuries to his forehead and mouth and received treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL),” Fadil said in a statement.
All three suspects, aged between 49 and 61, are being investigated under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
