Malaysia is set to make history on November 29, as the world’s first Muslim-friendly cruise, M/V Piano Land, embarks on its maiden voyage from Port Klang. The ship offers 100% halal food, alcohol-free beverages, designated prayer rooms, and onboard prayer time guidance, catering specifically to Muslim travellers seeking comfort and compliance with their faith.
A partnership between Astro Ocean Cruise and Hwajing Travel & Tours, the initiative supports Malaysia’s vision to become a global hub for Muslim-friendly tourism. The ship accommodates 1,760 passengers across 10 decks and 880 cabins, featuring family zones, fitness facilities, and even halal afternoon tea.
Cruise itineraries will include Penang and Langkawi, offering 3D2N or 4D3N routes. Passengers can look forward to diverse halal dining, including Hong Kong-style roasted duck and mocktails served throughout its restaurants and lounges.
Halal travel influencer Hassan Bulbul, who often struggles to find halal options abroad, called the cruise “a huge step forward for the halal travel industry.” He hopes its success will inspire more cruise lines to follow suit.
With onboard spas, wellness programs, and children’s clubs, the M/V Piano Land marks the beginning of a new era — where faith, culture, and luxury travel finally sail together.
