Legendary singer Cher, 79, has shared rare insight into her three-year relationship with 39-year-old music executive Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, during an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings this week, where she was promoting her new gelato, Cherlato.
Speaking candidly about the age gap, Cher said, “We laugh all the time, you know? I just love him.” Addressing critics of the unlikely pairing, she added, “Whatever. They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
On the topic of her age, she revealed that Edwards encourages her with the words: “You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger.” Cher praised her boyfriend, calling him “beautiful” and “one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
Cher also enjoys spending time with Alexander’s six-year-old son, Slash, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose. She described the child as “smart, funny, and a delight,” adding that she feels she got “exactly what [she] asked for” when praying for a toddler and a man.
The couple has been seen regularly at high-profile events, including the Swarovski Masters of Lighting Opening Celebration in Los Angeles last week and Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda Roma in Italy this past July. They have also shared moments on social media, including a racy January 2024 post on X (formerly Twitter) captioned “Love is Love”, and cozy Valentino snaps in September.
Cher previously addressed the age difference on The Kelly Clarkson Show in December 2022, admitting: “Well, on paper it’s kind of ridiculous. But in real life we get along great. He’s fabulous and I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”
Over the past three years, the couple has regularly enjoyed glamorous outings, bonding over their shared love for fashion, socializing, and nightlife, while being photographed together in both Los Angeles and New York City.
