PM Anwar Warns Civil Servants: “Gratitude Must Come With Vigilance”

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged civil servants not to be complacent with Malaysia’s current economic progress, warning that external envy and hostility could still threaten the country’s stability.

Speaking at the Prime Minister’s Department monthly assembly on Tuesday, Anwar acknowledged that Malaysia is performing strongly — with the ringgit ranking among Asia’s better-performing currencies, unemployment at a decade-low, and investment levels at record highs since independence.

However, he cautioned that such achievements must not lead to a false sense of security, noting that history has shown decline often begins when a nation becomes complacent about defending its core strengths.

“We are grateful, but our gratitude must come with vigilance,” he said, reminding civil servants to remain alert and proactive in safeguarding the nation’s economic and political stability.
