Logger Found Dead in Ravine After Five-Day Search Near Kem Nibong

Date:

A 49-year-old logger, Himang Lisang, who went missing five days ago, was tragically found dead in a ravine near Kem Nibong this morning.

Himang had left his logging camp in Kem Nibong on July 15 to travel to nearby Anding via pickup truck to purchase supplies but never returned. His employer became concerned when he failed to come back and could not be contacted.

A search was initiated along the logging route from Kem Abit to Kem Nibong, leading to a police report filed at the district headquarters. Despite initial efforts yielding no clues, rescue teams from the Belaga Fire and Rescue Station, under operations commander Villdeo Dumat, were called in after local police received additional information.

This morning at around 9:30am, the rescue team located Himang’s pickup truck roughly 5 km from Kem Nibong. His body was discovered in a nearby ravine and has been handed over to authorities for further investigation.

The Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson confirmed the area was mountainous and remote, making the search effort both urgent and challenging.
