The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) intensified its road safety enforcement with a night operation along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway, issuing 234 summonses for various traffic offences.
Led by Deputy Director Norazlan Ibrahim, the operation was held from 7.30pm until midnight and involved 37 enforcement personnel. A total of 936 vehicles were inspected. Among the most common offences recorded was driving without a valid licence, with 66 cases.
JPJ also seized 11 vehicles due to serious violations. The department emphasised that these operations are not just punitive but serve to educate the public and highlight the importance of shared responsibility in ensuring road safety.
JPJ Sarawak reaffirmed its commitment to continue conducting similar enforcement actions regularly to uphold traffic law compliance and enhance public awareness.
