Dead Dog and Cat Found in Abandoned Damansara Damai Vet Clinic

Date:

Shock and outrage erupted online after animal activists discovered a dead dog and cat inside an allegedly abandoned veterinary clinic in Damansara Damai, Selangor.

Photos and videos shared on Instagram by activist Shima Aris showed the clinic in complete disarray, with broken cages, scattered rubbish, animal faeces, and untouched equipment. Rescuers found the animals’ bodies decomposing, while one traumatized cat was rescued alive.

Shima said veterinarians accompanying the rescue confirmed the animals had likely been dead for seven to ten days. She urged the public to report the incident to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) and seek justice for the neglected animals.

According to Shima, the clinic had reportedly closed about three months ago, leaving behind 14 cats and one dog. Former staff claimed the animals were fed only once a week, and many were unattended for an extended period before being discovered.

Animal welfare organisation Stray Free Foundation called for a thorough investigation, highlighting concerns about professional responsibility, negligence, and animal welfare.

A police report was lodged last Saturday, though the carcasses remain on site to preserve potential evidence. The surviving cat is now receiving treatment at another clinic.

Netizens expressed devastation and outrage online, with many calling for accountability and stricter oversight of veterinary clinics. The DVS has been contacted for comment.
