A Malaysian woman has stepped in to save a severely injured stray cat found lying helplessly on the road following a hit-and-run near her neighbourhood.
Tinneswari Singara Velo told WeirdKaya that she discovered the cat, whom she named Milky, on 7 November around 11.30am. He was motionless, with blood pooling around his head.
Milky suffered multiple traumatic injuries: a dislodged molar punctured his left eye, which later became infected, and his skull and jaw were fractured. Tragically, he lost vision in both eyes as a result.
The cat was immediately rushed for emergency treatment and has been hospitalised ever since. On 3 December, Milky underwent a major surgery at Wisma Pet Universe, Starlight Veterinary Hospital, including the removal of his left eye, extraction of his upper canine, installation of an ET tube for assisted feeding, and minor jaw correction.
Milky remains under close monitoring and will require at least two months of intensive care due to low muscle mass and his fragile condition.
As of 1 December, his medical bills have surpassed RM11,000, covering treatment and surgery. While Tinneswari received RM4,000 in donations, funding has slowed as his recovery continues. She now faces a remaining balance of RM4,500 for ongoing treatment, not including special dietary needs.
Despite the financial strain, Tinneswari remains committed to Milky’s recovery. “I saw him lying there alone. I could not leave him to die,” she said. She hopes Milky will eventually live a safe and comfortable life, even though he will remain blind.
