Six-Month-Old Baby Dragged Along Road After Pit Bull Attacks Her

Date:

A six-month-old baby girl was seriously injured after being attacked by a pit bull in a terrifying incident in Haryana, India.

CCTV footage of the incident in Sikka Colony showed the dog suddenly lunging at a woman who was carrying the baby.

The impact sent both of them crashing to the ground, before the dog turned its attention to the infant and began attacking her.

The woman, who was the baby’s aunt, tried to rescue the child but was also bitten by the dog and knocked to the ground.

The footage showed the baby being dragged along the road as several people rushed to try to pull the animal away.

The infant suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in Rohtak, where her condition was reported to be critical.

The family has yet to lodge a police report over the incident.

The attack has raised concern among residents and prompted questions over the alleged negligence of the dog’s owner, as well as compliance with regulations governing breeds considered dangerous.

In a separate incident last year, a six-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and lost part of his right ear after allegedly being attacked by a pit bull in Vinay Enclave, Delhi. The dog’s owner was later arrested on an attempted murder charge.

Pit bulls can still be kept in most parts of India as there is no nationwide ban on the breed.

However, some local authorities have introduced restrictions on keeping certain breeds considered a potential danger to the public.

For instance, Ghaziabad and Chandigarh have banned residents from keeping pit bulls, Rottweilers and several other breeds considered high-risk.
