A leopard cat was spotted lounging casually on the roof of a shed, seemingly unfazed by the attention of the homeowner and onlookers.
The adult wild feline had wandered into a residence in Taman Sri Gombak Height at around 1 a.m. yesterday.
A spokesperson for the Kuala Lumpur Civil Defence Force (APM) said they were alerted by the public and rushed to the scene to capture the animal.
“Upon arrival, the leopard cat was seen resting on the roof of a shed next to the property’s boundary wall,” the spokesperson explained.
APM officers spent nearly 20 minutes safely capturing the animal using a net. The leopard cat was then handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) in Kuala Lumpur for further action.
Leopard cats are arboreal by nature, hunting and resting in trees during the day. They are fully protected under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act 716) and cannot be captured or kept as pets.
