Chang Cheng Holdings, a homegrown food and beverage group, recently honoured employees with over a decade of service by awarding gold plaques weighing between 20g and 30g.
The company, which began as a Chinese mixed vegetable rice stall in 1994, now operates around 160 restaurants and more than 30 coffee shops under brands including Ming Kitchen Seafood, Rong Kee Roasted Delights, and Partea, employing over 1,200 staff.
The awards were presented during the group’s 32nd anniversary dinner held at Fairmont Singapore on February 6, where employees also enjoyed a banquet featuring delicacies such as abalone and shark’s fin soup, along with a lucky draw.
Each gold plaque, made from 999 pure gold, was engraved with the Chang Cheng Holdings headquarters and brand logo, as well as the recipient’s years of service. Plaques were sized according to tenure: 20g for 10–14 years, 25g for 15–19 years, and 30g for 20 years of service. Displayed in transparent frames and presented in red gift boxes from SK Jewellery, each plaque is currently valued at around S$271 per gram, making a 20g plaque worth approximately S$5,400. The total estimated value of all plaques awarded exceeds S$500,000.
Founding managing director Kok Kuan Hwa said the awards were a gesture of appreciation for the dedication of employees over the past three decades. “This is just to thank the team for their hard work and dedication over the past 32 years and sticking with us through thick and thin,” he shared.
In the past, the company has also gifted Rolex watches to long-serving staff. Some employees mentioned that high-performing stalls may additionally receive a S$1,500 bonus, which is distributed to individual team members.
Staff expressed gratitude and pride for the recognition, noting that the company’s commitment to rewarding contributions contributes to long tenure and loyalty among its workforce.
