A family experienced a shocking encounter when a tiger appeared in front of their car in Lojing on Tuesday.
The wild animal was reportedly crossing the road and was visible for about a minute before retreating back into the nearby forest.
Abdul Hanif Che Ibrahim, 33, a trader from Tanah Merah, said the incident occurred near Sekolah Kebangsaan Pos Brooke while they were on their way to Cameron Highlands. “We were in two cars, and my car with three family members was at the front. The road is hilly, and suddenly a tiger appeared. It looked startled before returning to the forest,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
He added that, as the road was quiet with no other vehicles, they managed to record the tiger on video.
“This is the first time we’ve seen such an animal up close. All my family members were stunned, and it still feels like a dream,” Abdul Hanif said.
Kelantan Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Mohamad Hafid Rohani confirmed that no official reports had been received regarding the incident.
