Four-Year-Old Malaysian Boy Earns Three Records for Naming 44 Engine Parts in 60 Seconds

Date:

A four-year-old boy from Seremban 2 has captured attention after earning three national and international record recognitions for his remarkable ability to identify and name 44 vehicle engine components accurately in just 60 seconds.

Gaeshwin Nair received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR), as well as two international record organisations, the International Book of Records and Worldwide Book of Records.

His father, Thynalan Mohan Das, said Gaeshwin successfully identified and named all 44 engine components on July 24.

Among the parts he could name were the crankshaft, valve lifter, camshaft adjuster, engine oil pump, connecting rod, timing cover and oil separator.

Thynalan said the achievement highlighted his son’s exceptional memory and demonstrated how an interest nurtured from an early age could develop into a distinctive talent.

He believes Gaeshwin’s fascination with vehicle components began when he regularly accompanied his father to the family-owned car workshop in Seremban 2, particularly on Saturdays.

“I would tell him and show him the names of the car components.

“We never expected him to remember them so well. The following week, I tested his understanding of the parts, and he was able to name them clearly and fluently,” he said.

Thynalan said he was amazed by his son’s ability to understand automotive terminology usually associated with adults, even at an age when most children are still learning about the world around them.

Gaeshwin’s exceptional memory first became apparent at around 18 months old, when he could already recite the names of all the planets in the solar system in the correct order.

As he grew older, his interest shifted towards automobiles after his father introduced educational flashcards featuring more than 100 car brands and their countries of origin.

Thynalan said Gaeshwin managed to identify all the brands within just one to two months.

His interest subsequently progressed from recognising car brands to learning about increasingly complex engine components.

Gaeshwin is currently attending a nearby kindergarten.

Meanwhile, his mother, Gayathri Nair, has also taken steps to support his interest by preparing various learning materials to help him explore automotive subjects in greater depth.

The former Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight attendant said she wanted to expose her son to actual engine components so he could better understand what he was learning.
