A Malaysian renting a room for just five months has taken to social media to vent his frustration after discovering that his housemate had been secretly helping himself to his drinks.
“I’m not exactly stingy, but I’m disappointed with my housemate’s behavior — he likes to help himself to other people’s drinks,” shared Wan in a post on Threads.
He revealed that the first incident involved his iced Nescafé, which had apparently been sipped. Curious to confirm his suspicions, Wan decided to run a little experiment. After prayers, he left a carbonated drink in the fridge before leaving the house.
When he returned, he noticed the drink had gone down slightly — proving his suspicions right. Wan even shared a before-and-after photo showing the difference in the amount left in the bottle.
Netizens were quick to react, with some offering humorous solutions and others relating to the struggles of shared living.
“Put some stagnant drain water in a bottle, add a little energy drink to mask the smell — problem solved,” one user joked.
“Just put laxatives in it so they’ll get the message. Not to be mean, but teach them a lesson for stealing drinks,” suggested another.
Others recommended a more practical approach, like buying a small fridge and locking it.
“It’s okay, just let it go. But next time, when you get your salary, buy a small fridge for your room and lock it. That’ll teach them a lesson so they can’t take other people’s stuff,” advised one netizen.
