A Malaysian man has sparked an online debate after asking how to confront his girlfriend about her recent weight gain, claiming she had put on nearly 20kg in less than a year since they started dating.
In an anonymous post on X, the man revealed that his girlfriend’s weight had risen from 52kg to 69kg in under a year. He asked, “Mein, how do I tell my girlfriend she’s getting fat? My girlfriend has gained almost 20kg since we became a couple. Less than a year. From 52kg to 69kg.”
The post immediately drew strong reactions, with many netizens criticising him for focusing on her weight rather than her health or well-being.
Some users highlighted that weight gain can occur for various reasons and questioned his attitude toward his partner. One comment read: “Just find a girlfriend whose weight never goes up. She’s happy now because she’s in a good place. If you can’t accept her after she’s gained weight, you don’t deserve her when she’s slim either. Not even married yet and already complaining.
