A premium train coach operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTM) has captured public interest online due to its luxurious interior, drawing attention ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri travel season.

The coach, part of KTM’s special charter service, was showcased in a post on Threads by user @ziafmihar, featuring images of a modern, hotel-style interior with three rooms, two bathrooms, and a dining area. The post clarified that the coach is not available on regular train services and requires advance booking.
Social media users quickly responded with excitement. User @rroyxls commented, “That’s awesome. The dining area reminds me of a scene from Hunger Games.” Meanwhile, @syhrhzmn recalled her experience on the coach over a decade ago: “I took this coach around 2011 or 2012. There was a technical problem and the train had to stop for quite some time. It was the first time in my life I was happy the train broke down because I could spend longer in the coach. The journey took almost 15 hours.”
Another user, @ahmadfaiqmyusoff, joked: “Such a comfortable coach might make even a 17-hour train ride to Kelantan feel enjoyable.”
KTM confirmed the coach is available exclusively through its charter service for individuals or organisations.
“Popular routes for charter services include KL Sentral to Ipoh, Butterworth, Padang Besar, Tumpat, Johor Bahru Sentral, and Hat Yai,” a KTM spokesperson said. Costs vary depending on distance, coach type and number, journey duration, and additional requested services.
“Passengers interested in chartering the train can contact KTM directly via email for further inquiries,” the spokesperson added.
