Proton Launches Fourth-Generation Saga with Starting Price of RM38,990

Date:

Proton today unveiled the fourth-generation Proton Saga at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), with a starting price of RM38,990.

The new Saga is offered in three variants: Standard at RM38,990, Executive at RM43,990, and Premium at RM48,990, on-the-road prices excluding insurance. Customers who book by December 31, 2025, will receive an additional RM1,000 discount.

The model promises the lowest maintenance costs in the A-segment sedan category, backed by a five-year warranty or 150,000 km, along with three complimentary labour services.

Equipped with 35 new features aimed at improving safety, comfort, and convenience, the new Saga offers approximately RM12,000 in added value. Highlights include a new i-GT 1.5-litre engine delivering fuel efficiency of 4.9 litres per 100 km, six airbags, an enhanced monocular camera system, and a rear side radar system.

Proton chairman Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar expressed his excitement at the launch, noting that 20,000 bookings have already been received just two weeks after opening. He added that since 1985, the Saga has contributed over 2 million units in sales, accounting for half of Proton’s total achievements.

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz praised the Saga’s enduring legacy, recalling how the model put “Malaysia on wheels” and gave many Malaysians their first opportunity to own a car. He highlighted Proton’s export achievements, noting over 20,000 vehicles shipped to 18 countries since 2020, including approximately 7,000 units to Egypt since 2018, and expressed confidence that the new Saga will further expand Proton’s global footprint.

The fourth-generation Saga features a modern exterior with full LED projector headlamps, ethereal bow elements, a “Sulaman Songket” grille, a 3D offset tail lamp, a full LED rear light bar, and a rear bumper reflector design.

Inside, the car is equipped with a 16-inch dual screen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a digital meter display. Two new colours, Marine Blue and Space Grey, join the existing Ruby Red, Armour Silver, and Snow White, offering a refreshed palette for Malaysian drivers.
