Malaysian Collector Puts Pokémon Cards Up For Sale At RM1.87 Million – Accepts Porsche Trade Too!

Date:

Malaysian collector Damiral Imran recently stunned social media by putting part of his prized Pokémon card collection up for sale at an eye-popping RM1.87 million (approximately TWD 13.6 million). He even offered an alternative deal, allowing buyers to trade a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S plus cash for the rare cards.

According to the South China Morning Post, Damiral described the collection as a “crystallization of history, rarity, and legacy,” sharing multiple photos of neatly organized cards that have been professionally graded in the U.S. Limited edition sets featuring Pikachu and other iconic Pokémon are stacked along his walls. He revealed that the full collection is valued at around RM2 million (roughly TWD 14.57 million), and he has already received an offer of RM1.62 million (around TWD 11.8 million).

To encourage the sale, Damiral announced that anyone who successfully helps him find a buyer would receive a commission of RM50,000 (about TWD 360,000). Additionally, the buyer would receive a limited edition One Piece card valued over RM50,000. Damiral noted that he originally spent around RM1.62 million to assemble this collection.

Since its debut in Japan in 1996, Pokémon cards have become a global sensation, with rare editions fetching high prices at auction. In the U.S. this year, a first edition Charizard card sold for over USD 100,000 (approximately TWD 3.06 million), while the record remains a 1998 “Pikachu Illustrator” card purchased by an American influencer in 2022 for USD 5.27 million (around TWD 160 million).

Pokémon card collecting has also gained popularity in Malaysia in recent years, with certification shops and player meetups appearing in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Netizens reacted with amazement to Damiral’s collection, calling it “king-level,” while some cautioned that “collecting can be an investment, but don’t go overboard, or you might go bankrupt.”
