Malaysian Man Hesitating Over Marriage Because Wife Earns More

Date:

A Malaysian man’s candid confession about feeling insecure over his fiancée’s higher earnings has gone viral on social media.

In a post on Threads, the anonymous man revealed that he is reconsidering going through with his wedding, scheduled after Hari Raya, due to the significant income gap between him and his future wife.

He shared that his fiancée drives a more expensive car and owns a designer handbag worth three times his monthly salary.

“Guys, my future wife earns more than me. Her car is more expensive than mine, and her handbag costs three months of my salary. I feel like maybe I don’t want to proceed with the wedding after Raya. I just feel inadequate,” he wrote.

The post quickly drew a flood of responses from netizens, many of whom highlighted that the issue was less about finances and more about personal insecurity.

“You have two choices: upgrade yourself or leave,” one commenter wrote.

Others were even more direct. “Women don’t need insecure men. Later she’ll have to baby you,” another user said.

Several advised him to rethink the relationship if he is already feeling pressured by her lifestyle. “If you’re insecure about her life, don’t proceed. Find someone on your level,” read one comment.

The post has sparked a wider discussion online about confidence, financial differences in relationships, and the role of self-worth in partnerships.
