Pregnant Woman Shares Queue-Cutting Frustration at Toilets, Sparks Online Debate

Date:

Pregnancy doesn’t automatically guarantee special treatment in public, as one social media user recently highlighted in a viral post about queue etiquette.

Eight months pregnant and struggling with a full bladder, @ricahnry shared her frustration after waiting patiently in line at Imago’s basement toilets, only for another visibly pregnant woman to cut ahead without asking. “And then she had the audacity to pull a face as well. So annoying,” she wrote.

Responses to her story were mixed. Some, like @moy.lxy, said it resonated with them, recalling moments when pregnant women were treated discourteously—but also praising strangers who showed simple acts of kindness, such as letting them move ahead in line.

Others stressed context, noting that not all pregnancies are the same. “I was nine months pregnant but my bump was small… and I couldn’t hold my bladder at all during that time,” @clxrxcxw shared.

Several netizens, however, criticised the line-cutter’s behaviour. @jerrywongts remarked, “Pregnant or not, that woman clearly has no basic courtesy… It’s not difficult to open your mouth and ask for permission,” while @missriyyy noted that such actions can give pregnant women a negative reputation.

Meanwhile, some offered alternative perspectives: @nish_aella mentioned being directed to use disabled toilets despite queuing, and @qatalyts suggested it could have been the woman’s first pregnancy, prompting her to seek a sense of “privilege.”

The debate highlights how public courtesy toward pregnant women isn’t universal, and perceptions of entitlement can clash even among those experiencing similar circumstances.
