Father’s Heartbreak as Daughter Dies in Road Accident Days Before Graduation

Date:

A father’s joy in preparing to watch his daughter graduate turned into unimaginable sorrow when she died in a road accident just 10 days before her convocation.

Wan Nasrul Hakim Wan Muhammad, 49, took to Facebook to share his grief over the death of his 23-year-old daughter, Wan Adlin Nadhilah, affectionately known as Alin. In an emotional post on his page Tekan Minyak, he described the loss as a devastating blow that left him “crying like a child.”

Accompanying his post was a selfie of him and Alin taken on Nov 13 during a car ride back to Mentakab after collecting her graduation robe. She was due to receive her Bachelor of Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on Nov 24.

“I knew she loved to drive. On the way back from UKM, I let Alin drive the car from the Karak toll plaza to Mentakab. I was so happy to let her take the wheel,” he wrote.

Tragedy struck the following day when he received a call informing him that the car Alin was travelling in, along with three others, had been involved in an accident. Minutes later, he was told that his daughter had died.

Describing the heartbreak, Wan Nasrul Hakim said he hugged his wife and youngest son, Yusuf, and cried as he faced the reality of losing his child. He recounted the long drive to the forensic unit at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh, saying tears accompanied the family throughout the journey.

“At my parents’ house, I lifted the cloth covering her face and kissed her forehead… I cried like a small child when I saw her face,” he wrote. The post-mortem revealed that severe brain injury from the impact caused her death.

He also led Alin’s funeral prayers, an experience he said he never imagined facing. She was laid to rest before Zohor.

In another post, he mentioned receiving the dashcam footage of the accident but chose not to share it to avoid compromising police investigations.

Temerloh police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron confirmed the case is being investigated for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Wan Nasrul Hakim concluded his post with a heartfelt message to his daughter: “Alin… abah rindu Alin” (Alin… Dad misses you).
