Husband Sells Belongings, Even Car, to Fund Wife’s Stage Four Cancer Treatment

Date:

For Ahmad Hamada Ayueman, nothing is more precious than seeing his wife regain her health. That hope continues to drive the 29-year-old, even as he sells off his personal belongings to pay for her mounting medical expenses.

His wife, Siti Nuraifat Bueraheng, 25, affectionately known as Aifat, has been battling stage four soft tissue sarcoma of the knee since last year.

Ahmad told Kosmo! that he made the difficult decision to sell his valuables one by one, including gold, to cover the cost of treatment. He is now attempting to sell his BMW E90 to continue supporting his wife’s medical care.

“I don’t like being in debt. So I sold whatever I had, including gold. Now, I’m trying to sell my car to support my beloved wife’s treatment,” he said.

According to Ahmad, Aifat’s health problems began in 2021 after she was involved in a motorcycle accident, a year before they were married. Initial X-rays showed no fractures, and she sought traditional massage treatment as the swelling appeared manageable. However, the condition gradually worsened and became increasingly painful.

After their marriage, Ahmad brought his wife to a private hospital, but doctors were still unable to determine the cause. It was only after further examinations at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) that she was diagnosed with cancer.

Since then, medical expenses have risen to tens of thousands of ringgit, covering surgery on her knee, MRI scans and daily necessities such as disposable diapers. Ahmad also had to quit his job at a restaurant to care for Aifat full-time, as she is now bedridden and her condition continues to deteriorate.

Aifat was initially treated at HKL before being transferred to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) last year.

Ahmad said he has applied for various forms of financial aid, including assistance from the National Cancer Council, but has yet to receive any support.

“From the start of her treatment until her condition became critical, we haven’t received any help. I understand it may be because my wife is a foreigner from Thailand, but our marriage is legally recognised here, and she holds a dependent spouse visa,” he said.

Now a father of two, Ahmad is appealing to the public for assistance, whether financial support or information on other possible aid channels.

“I will not give up as long as Aifat is still breathing,” he said, adding that he has turned to social media to share their story in the hope that someone may be able to help or guide him to further assistance.
